Frome with a view!
Screen 2
a virtual tour
of Frome
On these pages
of Fromeservice you can take a virtual tour of Frome. This is a series of
photos to show you what a lovely place Frome is.
These images will
take a normal modem about 10 to 15 seconds to load so we'll put a bit
of text between each image so that by the time your PC has downloaded
the image you'll be ready to see it!! With broadband you'll be fine!
So sit back and enjoy
the tour...
- St John's Church
and Gentle Street
- Re-built in Victorian
times, St John's Church stands in a wonderfully atmospheric graveyard
with the lovely Gentle Street passing by.
Here's a view of Gentle Street from the top of the hill. Note the cobbles
and the charming Georgian houses on either side:
- Halfway down the
hill on the left there is an impressive house, formerly the headquarters
for organisations like the British Legion. Now sadly boarded up, this
property would make an imposing company headquarters: In 2005 this property
was redeveloped and a new row or houses was built nearby. The house
itself has now been re-furbished. New photo to follow as soon as I can
find the time to get down town with the camera!
- The graveyard with
its well-kept lawns and carved statues giving a timeless air of peace
and tranquility: UNfortunately these charming angel figures have been
removed due to vandal activity. This picture remains here to show what
people are missing due to the stupidity of a few.
- The intricate carving
on these tombs, depicting Christ's crucifixion, is worth a closer look:
