the image you'll be ready to see it!!
So sit
back and enjoy the tour...
START
- Bath
Street and Rook Lane Chapel
- We start
our tour at the top of Bath Street, looking at the rather wonderful
Rook Lane Chapel, built in 1707 as a methodist church like so many of
the religious buildings in Frome, which was a centre of non-conformist
religious activity.
- This
building was empty for a long time and it is thankfully still preserved
due to the efforts of a few enlightened souls. It became a renowned
art venue for local artists and then was redeveloped by a firm of local
architects. It is now part architect's offices and part art showcase.
There have been some very successful exhibitions in this gallery and
it was a prominent part of last summer's Somerset Art Week. Find out
about the history of this remarkable building at: Rook
Lane Chapel and Rook
Lane Chapel Page 2
- Looking
just a bit further down Bath Street we can see some lovely traditional
cottages, this is one of the best preserved rows of medieval houses
in England.
As you walk down Bath Street on the right you can see the Victorian
entrance to St. John's Church:
